About the Artist
I'm Erika Jean, and I love creation. A renaissance person at heart, I've dabbled in all mediums, but have settled happily on upcyled plush animals as a passion.
Bringing new life to old and discarded clothing is important to me, in a world that habitually creates 92 million tonnes of tectile waste every year.
Why not bring new meaning to clothing and breath a little character into it?
Each of my creations is made with unique garnets picked out from thrift stores by me, all fittings, thread, and fasters have been either pre-used, thrifted, or gifted to me.
The patterns for each plush are unique and free handed to fit the garment itself, each shape a new life made without systemic manufacturing, every small characterization or flaw an intentional nod to he humanity of each piece.
I also still digitally paint on occasion, however, given the onset of AI art and the ease of digital art creation, I've moved away from making anything that could even be remotely misused in a database somewhere.
